Itinerary in Detail |
Day 01 : |
Arrival Paro / Thimpu Upon arrival at
Paro Airport, you will be received by
our representative and drive one and
half hours through the terraced fields
along the banks of the Paro Chu (Chu
means river) down stream to its
confluence with Wangchu, then up-valley
to Thimphu. Overnight in hotel. |
Day 02 : |
Thimpu Sightseeing Full day sightseeing
of National Library, Arts and Crafts
School, Nunnery Monastery, Jungshi paper
factory, Tashichho Dzong, handicraft
shops and towards evening stroll in the
town. Overnight in hotel. |
Day 03 : |
Thimpu Gangtey Early breakfast and drive
to Gangtey with a pause at Dochula pass
(10,000ft) and continue drive through
the forest of magnolia and rhododendrons
to Punakha for lunch. After lunch visit
Punakha Dzong and continue drive to
Gangtey. Overnight in lodge. |
Day 04 : |
Gangtey - Bumthang Morning visit Gangtey
Monastery, and drive to Bumthang with a
pause at Tongsa for lunch. During this
journey one can have a good view of high
Himalayan ranges from Pelela pass
(3300m) with a drive through the dense
forest of Magnolia & rhododendron trees.

Day 05 : |
Bumthang SighseeingToday you will be
sightseeing in and around Bumthang.
Morning visit Jampa Lhakhang built in
the 7th century, by Tibetan King
Songtsen Gampo. One of the 108 temples
built by him throughout Tibet and the
Himalayas to overcome a demon giantess.
Further up visit Kurje Lhakhang (Ku
means "body", Je means"imprint"). It is
one of the most sacred in Bhutan as Guru
Rinpoche meditated here and left the
imprint of his body on a rock. Afternoon
visit Tamshing Lhakhang, which is famous
for its old paintings inside and then
Kencho Sum Lhakhang, famous for its
broken bell. Back to hotel and take
rest. A full day sightseeing in Bumthang
valley with a visit to Jampa Lhakhang,
Kurje Lhakhang, Tamshing Monastery,
Konchosum Lhakhang and Lamae Gompa. Late
afternoon stroll around Bumthang town
and visit Swiss cheese factory.

Day 06 : |
Bumthang - Thimpu Today the drive to
Thimphu takes about 7-8hrs with the
certain stops on the way for
photographs. Stop at Chendibji Chorten
to have picnic lunch. Continue drive to
Thimphu . Overnight in hotel. |
Day 07 : |
Thimpu - Paro In the morning drive to
Paro to visit to Drugyel Dzong the
ruined fortress, which was once,
defended the valley from Tibetan
invasion. One can get a view of Mount
Jhomolhari on the clear day (24,000ft)
from here. On the way back visit Satsam
Chorten monastery. Afternoon drive to
visit National Museum and Rinpung Dzong.

Day 08 : |
Early morning transfer to Paro Airport
for your onward departure flight. |
