Langtang Gosaikunda Trek |
This is a relatively short but extremely interesting trek and a
good one for a family with children.. The very sacred Gosainkund
Lake is situated in the Langtang National Park region of the
Annapurnas. There are some 100 lakes in the area and they are
the destination of thousands of Hindu Pilgrims during the month
of August. The lake is also sacred to the Buddhist people. The
trek commences with a steep ascent but levels out for a relaxing
trek through old growth forest. If the day is clear, you will
have some spectacular views of the valley below and of the
magnificent waterfalls cascading down the mountain ranges across
the valley. There is ample opportunity to see the vast array of
flaura and if you are quiet and observant, you may get to see
some of the varied wildlife inhabiting the forest. The trail
take you through some of the best native forest in Nepal.
Through the canopy, you will get glimpses of Langtang Lirung
Peak (7246m).
