We are sure that you want to make your trek an unforgettable
experience. You can attain the full worth of your money and time
if you take care of a few important factors. GAT is pleased to
share with you a few tips that may make real difference-
1. Choose a reliable agency, check whether it is
government-registered or not. Our experience says that sense of
uncertainty and worries spoil the joy of trekking if trekked
alone,
2. Coincide your visit with important festivals which gives you
an opportunity to observe and partake in such festivals. Dashain,
Deepawali, Holi (colour festival), Gaijatra etc are some
immensely popular festivals for tourists,
3. Choose the best season for trekking, or choose what can be
the most appropriate trip for the time of your visit. It rains a
lot between the months of June and September. There are still
great treks available even in the rainy season but for a more
popular trek like Annapurna it is best to avoid the monsoon
months. Autumn through to Spring is the best time to fully
experience Nepal,
4. Bring the gears or clothes that are neither cumbersome nor
insufficient. Usually you will experience warm days and cold
nights depending on altitude and the time of year. If you think
the clothes you need for trekking are not usable later, it is
better to hire them in Kathmandu. It is better to consult your
guide and company before you decide what to take.
5. Make sure in advance that the guides and porters have the
basic requirements such as warm clothes, trekking boots
fulfilled for the trip so that you do not have to feel sorry
during this trip.
6. Learn some basic greeting expressions as it helps you to get
along well with the local people. Nepalese people treat tourists
amiably and with curiosity, so you will be appreciated for your
effort to intermingle,
