Trekking in Langtang Region

Langtang TrekThe Langtang region which falls in the central Nepal, is very easily accessible from Kathmandu. Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just south of the Tibetan border Kyirong. This high and isolated region is inhabited by Tamangs whose religious practices, language and dress are much more similar to those of Tibet than to the traditions of their cousins in the middle hills. The upper valley in Langtang is a grazing paradise, rich in flowers and grass and dotted with stone huts used in the summertime butter-making.

Gosainkunda, high up within an open ridge, offers shorter treks than Langtang. Gosainkund Lake (4,298 m), is sacred spot and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a holy lake where thousands of pilgrims gather every year during August full moon. Shiva is said to have created holy Gosainkund Lake with his trident, and its waters are believed to be connected via subterranean channels to Patan's Khumbeshwar Mahadev temple. Around this region there are other 13 beautiful lakes.

Rhododenron forests, Tamang villages and smiling faces are the main highlights of this region. Once you are in you are walking through a preserved National Park area where, if you are lucky, might encounter with wild animals like wild boar, bear, barking dear, leopard or even red panda.
